Headlights To Release New Album

Headlights

Wildlife, Headlights' poignant third album, stems from particularly troubled beginnings. "It was a very difficult record," relates guitarist and songwriter Tristan Wraight. While Wraight, fellow songwriter and keyboardist Erin Fein, and drummer Brett Sanderson have been touring and recording since 2004, this year found the band as a five piece for the first time with the addition of bassist Nick Sanborn and, temporarily, guitarist...

For all of Peter Pan's fantastical, magical skills (flight, expert swordsmanship, voice mimicry, flute proficiency) the one power above all others that captures the imagination of children is his ability to never grow up. Gone is the foreboding future of jobs, bills, and responsibility. All that remains is playing, singing, dancing, and a magical land where you have friends with names like Nibs and Tootles.

I Fight Dragons-Cool Is Just A Number EP

Posted by Joseph Bridges on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, In : Reviews

Artist: I Fight Dragons

Title: Cool Is Just A Number EP

Label: Self Released

Genre: Rock/Pop/Nintendo

Rating: 9.5/10

There will never be a shortage of bands using a gimmick to promote their music. Sometimes the gimmick is in the music, and when it is, the music usually lacks any coherence from song to song and any artistic value is lost in translation very quickly. I Fight Dragons is a new breed of band that uses re-purposed Nintendo systems as instruments in their music and for now...

Music Go Music

The members of 'Music Go Music' met at a party in the home of a man who was, at that time, called "The Condor."[1] Over the rager's din we made a connection. It was mild at first, but fermented for a couple of weeks until Torg invited me and Gala Bell over to make a song together. We met several days later and, in the space of an hour, the first Music Go Music song was written. We reco...

David Sylvian To Release Manafon

Posted by P Shather on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, In : News
David Sylvian is a man apart. In a thirty-year career that spans the New Romantic movement, ambient works and progressive rock, and mature and esoteric pop, Sylvian has tested popular styles and bent them to his own vision. But the '00s have seen a more extreme side of his work. While 2003's Blemish startled long-time fans with its emotional rigour, Sylvian has taken the next step with Manafon - a work of nuance and stern musicality, that is also intriguing, suspenseful, and horribly beautif...

Opening with a ten second homage to Estonian composer Arvo Part, it's immediately apparent that A Sunny Day in Glasgow's new album, Ashes Grammar, is going to be a much more visceral outing than their 2007 album debut, Scribble Mural Comic Journal. It takes a few minutes for the record to even begin to reveal itself, as a swarm of 1950s acapella ("Secrets at the prom") gives way...

Imaad Wasif

In another life, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Imaad Wasif might have been a poet or a priest. He draws inspiration from beyond the veil, seeking connections and cosmic patters in the hopes of expressing the simplest but most profound message to his listeners: We are not alone. LAKE's new album Let's Build A Roof [KLP213], produced by Northwest legend Karl Blau, is sweet, funky and nostalgic - a paragon of psychedelic pop. Let's Build a Roof is like a travelogue of the places they went, the sto...

The Clientele Release New Album!

Posted by P Shather on Friday, July 10, 2009, In : Free Downloads
On October 6, The Clientele will release their 5th album, Bonfires on the Heath on CD, LP and digital download.

The Clientele formed a long time ago in the backwoods of suburban Hampshire, playing together as kids at school, rehearsing in a thatched cottage remote from any kind of music scene, but hypnotized by the magical strangeness of Galaxie 500 and Felt and the psych pop of Love and the Zombies.

Bonfires on the Heath is in a sense a return to the Clientele’s roots; the dreamlik...

The Scare to Realease OozeVoodoo

Posted by P Shather on Friday, July 10, 2009, In : News

The best description of THE SCARE’s sophomore album titled ‘OOZEVOODOO’ could only come from the bands leader Kiss Reid. If you want to use the usual rock journo cliché, it’s the follow-up to 2007’s Chivalry. But in real terms, oozevoodoo is so much more. The album which spawned the unofficial, tongue in cheek, anthem of 2009 “NO MONEY” is set to be released on August 7th via EMI records.

Rising triumphantly from the hollowed indie rock grounds of San Diego, Lanterns. is set to embark on a sort of plan-as-you-go U.S. Summer tour adventure beginning today.

In late 2008 the band released, Apocalypse Youth, a fiery collection of noisy pop songs. As the opening chords of distortion ring out and the drums build to a sharp climax, there is a genuine feeling of excitement, and Lanterns do nothing to quell that anticipation across the EP's raging sound.
